Electronic Arts announced this afternoon that it has added Industrial Toys, the 14-person development team from Pasadena, California to the company’s Worldwide Studios organization.

Industrial Toys was founded in 2012 by Alex Seropian, Tim Harris, and Brent Pease. Seropian, the CEO of Industrial Toys, is well-known for his previous role as Bungie’s co-founder and as a co-creator of Halo. Harris is currently the company’s President with Pease filling the role of CTO.

Of the acquisition, Samantha Ryan, SVP and Group GM in EA’s Worldwide Studios stated the following:

“Creating breakthrough games takes passionate developers and incredible creativity, and each time we’ve worked with the Industrial Toys team, we’ve been inspired by their unique approach. We’re thrilled to have them join our studio organization, pursue new ideas together and bring amazing new games to our players.”

Industrial Toys released its first game, Midnight Star, back in 2015. A sequel, Midnight Star: Renegade, was released in the following year. No other projects were currently announced by the company.

Details of what Industrial Toys will be doing under EA have not yet been provided, but after seeing the emphasis that EA put on Command & Conquer: Rivals last month at EA Play, it’s clear that the publisher is starting to take a larger look into the mobile space. Whether or not Industrial Toys will get to create their own IP or will utilize one of EA’s to adapt an existing franchise into the mobile space much like Command & Conquer remains to be seen.
