Today Sega reached out with a press release finally announcing the release date of Senjou no Valkyria 4: Eastern Front, known in the west simply as Valkyria Chronicles 4.
The game will launch in North America and Europe on September 25th for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch meaning that all platforms will get the game on the same day.
Those who will pre-order a physical copy the game in the United States, or partake in the first print, will also get a controller sticker for their platform of choice. Fans in Europe will have to be content with a sticker of Squad E’s medical dog Ragnarok.
If you’re not familiar with the game (unlikely, considering how much I cover it), below you can read a batch of official bullet points:
- A Coming-of-Age Story in a Time of War – Valkyria Chronicles 4takes place in the same timeframe as the original Valkyria Chronicles, but focuses on a whole new cast of main characters. Players will take command of the eager, young Commander Claude Wallace, engineer/heavy weapons extraordinaire Riley Miller, hotheaded Darcsen Raz, ice-cold ace sniper Kai Schulen, and more. Together, they will experience the painful realities of war–but will the bonds of Squad E’s friendships survive the frozen battlefield?
- The Next Generation “BLiTZ” Battle System – The part overhead turn-based strategy, part RPG, and part real-time 3rd person shooter “BLiTZ” battle system returns to the field. New features include an explosive new class called the Grenadier, numerous offensive/defensive battleship support options, chances for a unit to have a “Last Stand” action before death, and more. Plus, fight the imperial threat with more units on larger-scale maps than ever before.
- CANVAS Aesthetics – The series’ signature hand-drawn visual style is back and overhauled for the newest generation. Inspired by watercolor compositions, the CANVAS Graphics Engine blends visual elements of reality and imagination to create an expressive world filled with colorful emotions. Watch the journey of Squad E unfold like an interactive painting!
- The Return of a Legendary Composer – The illustrious Hitoshi Sakimoto, original composer of the Valkyria Chronicles series and countless other emotional epics, returns to provide a sweeping orchestral score for Valkyria Chronicles 4.
Below you can check out the stickers for both North America and Europe, and see if they entice to grab the game early. If you’re not sure yet, we know that a demo will be distributed some time down the line. You can also read our hands-on preview from E3.
The game will be available in a standard edition for $59.99, while the Memoirs of Battle edition will cost $99.99.
You can already pre-order Valkyria Chronicles 4 including its rich collector’s edition from Amazon.
