Last year, developer Compulsion Games announced a release date for their highly anticipated and successful  game We Happy Few, which has been in Early Access since July of 2016. They even revealed then that Gearbox Publishing would help publish the game on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Unfortunately, the developers announced today that they have delayed the game’s official release until Summer 2018 in order to polish up the game’s story a bit more.

According to Sam Abbott, one of We Happy Few’s Producers, the developers felt that the beginning of the game’s story, which follows a man named Arthur, didn’t live up to the rest of the game, so they have decided to take a bit of time in order to rework it:

“There are these moments that are memorable, very funny, and super weird and we’re really excited to show you all. But we felt that the first two hours of Arthur’s story just didn’t live up to those moments, meaning that the game didn’t start as well as it should. So we went back to the drawing board and made a couple of big decisions: we brought forward a number of story moments, to get into the action faster, and also rebuilt the whole first island for Arthur.”

Fortunately, this delay wasn’t the only We Happy Few news the developers had to share. At the end of the video that confirms the game’s delay, the developers also give us a brief glimpse at the game’s second playable character, Sally. Her portion of the video is quite short, but it does seem like she will change things up in the story quite a bit once she comes onto the scene.

You can check out the developer update video that reveals the game’s delay and shows off Sally below. We Happy Few will launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One this Summer.
