Today Square Enix hosted a press opening event for the “Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Exhibition – Farewell Story Exhibition – that will officially open to the public from January 22nd to February 28th at the Mori Art Center Gallery in the Roppongi Hills complex in Tokyo.

During the event, members of the Japanese press were able to shoot quite a few interesting pictures of the content of the exhibition, and you can find a taste in the gallery at the bottom of the post. If you want to see more, you can find plenty on Famitsu, 4Gamer, and Game Watch.

Most interestingly, we can see some amazing artwork by Tetsuya Nomura portraying Tidus and Yuna all grown-up after the events of Final Fantasy X-2.

If this wasn’t enough feelings for you, we get to see a memorial to everyone’s favorite deceased Final Fantasy XIV best friend, Haurchefant Greystone. This is (still) too soon, Square Enix!

Final Fantasy XV content includes some amazing art of the games’ protagonists, alongside an “idea board” portraying the world. Basically, it’s where developers sketched locations and elements while creating the game’s beautiful open world. Not all of them made it in, of course, but this is a great look into the mind of the design team.

The Final Fantasy VII area of the exhibition features a reproduction of Aerith’s church and plenty of artwork.

As teased when we first wrote about the exhibition, there are some Final Fantasy VII Remake image boards (basically storyboards) on display, but taking pictures was forbidden. The ones you see in the gallery are from the original game.

Since it was a press event, attendees obviously had to behave, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some pictures leaked online after the event opens to the public on January 22nd. Of course, I’ll keep an eye out for them
