PlayStation VR, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild and NieR: Automata Win CEDEC Awards

Today the traditional awards ceremony for CEDEC 2017 (Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2017) was held at the Pacifico Yokohama Hotel in Japan.

For those unfamiliar, CEDEC is basically the Japanese equivalent of the Game Developers Conference in the United States.

The Engineering Award was won by PlayStation VR for offering a low-cost and high-performance VR solution, and promoting the popularization of virtual reality content.

The Visual Arts Award was granted to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild for creating a vast and highly flexible world, combined with the natural presentation, achieving worldwide acclaim.

The Game Design Award was also won by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild for combining materials and freedom realzing unprecedented levels of freedom and fun in an open world.

The Sound Award was granted to NieR: Automata for creating a soundtrack deeply linked to the game’s world wiew, with production that is both unique and impressive. The score has been successful also as its own musical work outside of the game.

The Special Award was won by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, credited for nurturing the JRPG genre on the worldwide stage, attracting players all over the world throughout his career. Being highly praised abroad and one of the leading creators in Japan, he’s still active and continues to deliver hits.
